AARP
When I recently helped renew my father's
AARP membership I was informed that you could add someone, over the age of 18,
living at the member's address, to the membership. I have officially joined the
AARP! My membership has been active since 1984, when my parents became members.
There are many membership benefits that will help save me money, for example,
the first thing I did was sign up for the Delta Dental Family plan. It doesn't
pay for everything but after doing the math it will save me money!
CREDIT DEPRESSION WARNING
My wife, Larissa, commented that
lenders, like cigarette companies, should put warning labels on their credit
cards,
e.g., "WARNING: overuse of this product could cause extreme depression or
financial ruin." How true, how true, but I doubt we'll ever see that
happen.
PHONE SERVICE SAVINGS
I've been working on
getting low phone rates and passing these programs on to everyone at
DebtSmart.com. It's coming soon...really! I'm aiming for the end of the month,
maybe by the last May email newsletter issue or first in June. All that's left
is to build a website so you can determine if you will save and also have a way
to sign up.
Good credit rating but too much debt for low rates
by Scott Bilker
Scott,
I just found your website in a book I am reading
from the Rich Dad Series. I am in business for myself for 8 years now. I have
high CC debt all for the most part business debt. We always pay our bills on
time. Recently though the CC companies started raising their interest rates on
us and lowering our limits dramatically. Some to the tune of 35%! I am at a loss
of what to do.
My business is doing well to the point that, if I
were able to pay off these cards, I would be able to do my business on a
month-to-month basis without accruing any cc debt. Herein lies the problem of
being able to pay off the credit card debt especially at these rates. Even at
these rates we still are not making any late payments. Our credit rating is
excellent but we are carrying to much debt to acquire lower rate cc to lower our
monthly payments. What can we do?
I am going to try and call all of my credit card
holders and see about lowering my monthly interest as you talked about in one of
your articles. I am also ordering your books as soon as I finish with his email.
Your help is appreciated.
Credit Card Help From Scott Bilker: The $43,000 Man
by Christopher Yuscavage
When you are Scott Bilker, credit card help is not what you are offering
people; it's a way out of debt for life!
Scott Bilker, author of Talk Your Way Out of Credit Card Debt,
promises that his book is the quickest and easiest way out of debt for people

Mary is a widowed 40-year-old female from San Francisco with a problem, a
credit card problem. She currently has 3 credit cards to her name and another
that belonged to both her and her husband. While she has obtained low interest
credit cards for herself, her and her husband had a credit card with accumulated
debt in the thousands.
Besides being a painful reminder of her husband's death, the credit card that

Each week I receive dozens of emails from people being hounded by debt
collectors. These collectors are horrible! They can harass, threaten, and embarrass
their victims without regard for the law. There have been many articles posted at
DebtSmart by those attacked by these evil hounds.
Yes, that's strong language and I am sure that the "good" debt
collectors (if there is such a thing) are going to send me hate mail in about 10
minutes, but the truth is that the majority of these "folks" don't
care at all about your situation. They're out to suck as much cash from you as
possible.
In the past I've advised people of the techniques needed to deal with debt
collectors however, a comprehensive information package has been created that I
can recommend that will help--for sure!
It's been written by best-selling author, Gerri
Detweiler, attorney John
Ventura, and Mary Reed, personal finance author. Not only is this aimed at Stopping
Debt Collectors Cold but they also include four other great reports: How
to Get Collection Accounts Off Your Credit Report, How to Avoid Losing Your Home
In A Foreclosure, What to Do if You Are Behind on Your Car Payments, and
Confidential Interview With A Former Debt Collector.
I highly recommend that you take a look at this information so you're
prepared to effectively deal with debt collectors!

How Junk Mail Can Save You Money
by Jeffrey Strain
Most people toss out the junk mail that comes in
their mailbox never realizing that it can save them hundreds of dollars a year.
That's because "junk mail" includes competing offers, which can be
used to lower the rates you currently pay for services.
When companies send out junk mail, they're hoping
to convert new customers to their product or service. To do so, they often offer
discounted introductory rates below the normal retail price. When you have an
offer from a competing company, you have leverage against your current provider
to get them to lower their rates.
Say you receive a credit card offer in the mail
for a...
