I'm hearing more and more reports that banks are calling to beg us to use their money. I got a call last month and they said, "We noticed you've made a large payment. Did you transfer your balance?" Oh, yeah! To a 0% offer.

They went on to offer me a low rate, actually a choice, either 1.99% for 6 months or 5.9% fixed on purchases and balance transfers forever! I took the latter.

Other friends of mine have reported receiving the same calls. Those banks are hurtin'. It's tough competition out there for our business. Always keep that in mind. You do have options!

HOUSEHOLD MATH™: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER DOLLAR?

My father told me this one when I was a kid. Always stuck with me. Interesting accounting puzzle. Enjoy!

Three men checked into a hotel room and were charged $30 for which they paid $10 each. The next day, the manager realized that the men had been overcharged since the real price is $25 for the room. The manager gave the bellhop $5 to return to the three men. On the way to their room the bellhop decided to keep $2 for himself so he wouldn't have to make change. The bellhop gave $1 to each man. The three men had now paid $9 each, or a total of $27. This, plus the $2 the bellhop kept for himself, makes a total of $29. What happened to the other dollar?
